Investment in a Healthier, Happier Child

Wellspring has helped change the bodies and lives of thousands of children, teens, and young adults with two leading programs:

  1. Wellspring Camps.  With 11 summer and fitness and weight loss programs, including Wellspring Vancouver.

  2. Wellspring Academies.  Year-round, long-term enrollment for weight loss while continuing education.  Learn more about the Academies here.

We work hard to make Wellspring Vancouver affordable to all families.  There are a number of ways we do this, including Loans, Insurance Reimbursement, and Refundable Fees.  You can read more about each of these options below.

NOTE:  All prices are listed in American dollars; price in Canadian Dollars is determined by the exchange rate on the date of application. Insurance reimbursement and loans through Wellspring’s partner are generally not available to Canadian residents.  To read about potential tax credits available to Canadian residents, click here.

Loans to Spread the Cost of Payment over Months or Years

Because Wellspring Camps’ sister programs are Wellspring Academies, the attractive loan programs that are available to families enrolling in Wellspring Academies are also available to families enrolling their children in Wellspring Camps.

These loans can cover the entire camp tuition, including transportation to and from the program, and feature reasonable interest rates, a 20-year amortization period, and deferral of payments for up to 6 months.
Because the loan qualification and application process can be confusing, and because Wellspring families can choose from among several lenders, we recommend that all Wellspring families work with our partner organization, Custom Educational Loans.  Custom Educational Loans guides all Wellspring families through the loan qualification and application process and helps families choose the best loan for them.  Custom Educational Loans typically can complete this process within 48 hours.  Custom Educational Loans works with hundreds of Wellspring families each year.

If you are interested in a student loan to pay for the cost of Wellspring tuition, please contact Custom Educational Loans and tell them you’re interested in being qualified for a loan to attend a Wellspring Camp for 4 weeks, 6 weeks, or 8 weeks.

Reimbursement of Fees from Health Insurance

Many Wellspring families successfully receive health insurance reimbursement for a significant portion of their tuition fees because individual and group cognitive-behavioral therapy sessions are central to the Wellspring program.  However, because health insurance plans vary greatly, Wellspring cannot guarantee that any portion of a camper’s tuition will be reimbursed by health insurance providers.

The clinical component of Wellspring includes a psychological assessment and four cognitive-behavioral counseling sessions per week.  Specifically, campers participate in cognitive-behavioral therapy four times per week, twice individually and twice in a group therapeutic setting.
These services can be categorized as either “mental health” or “health” (“medical”) treatments and varies depending upon provider, plan, and benefits.

Typically, families with PPO plans are more likely to receive reimbursement for a portion of the clinical component of the program (an estimated $2,000 for the first four weeks, and $1,500 for the second four weeks).  They should not expect full reimbursement, nor should they base their decision to enroll their children upon such reimbursement.

Families with HMO’s should generally not expect to receive reimbursement, though we encourage families to advocate for their children’s health whenever possible.

At the end of Camp, Wellspring produces and submits a statement to your health insurance.  The statement won’t come from Wellspring.  It will come from the therapist.

Wellspring uses a private billing agency to bill insurance companies directly for reimbursement.  If preauthorization is required, Wellspring will determine this and, where possible, ensure that treatment is preauthorized.

Treatment at Wellspring is not considered inpatient care despite the fact that campers are in residence, nor should our services ever be represented as such.

Questions to Consider in Determining Likely Reimbursement from Health Insurance:

Question

Understanding the Answer

Question #1:  Does my health insurance plan reimburse for out-of-network behavioral therapy?

If yes, go to Question #2.
If no, then you are very unlikely to receive any reimbursement of the Wellspring tuition

Question #2:  Is there a deductible required for out-of-network behavioral therapy?

If no, go to Question #3.
If yes, ask the amount, and whether you may have already satisfied all or part of it for this year.

Question #3:  At what rate will I be reimbursed?

  1. Individual cognitive-behavioral therapy sessions (CPT codes 90806 and 90804)
  1. Group cognitive behavioral therapy sessions (CPT code 90853)
  1. Psychological assessments (CPT code 90801)

Please note:

  1. Individual sessions are billed at a rate of $96 to $144, depending on length (typically one $96 and one $144 session per week)
  1. Group sessions are billed at a rate of $72 per (typically two group sessions per week)
  1. The assessment is billed at a rate of $500 (typically one assessment)

Please note that the reimbursement will be sent to Wellspring, and Wellspring will immediately process a check for you for the amount of the reimbursement received, less a 6% administrative fee paid by Wellspring to the insurance billing service.

Refundable Wellspring Fees

Since Wellspring provides so many different locations, start dates, and lengths of camp attendance, please view different tuition rates by clicking here.

Below are the fees associated with Wellspring Vancouver, both of which are fully refundable:

Family Workshop: $300 USD.  Refunded in full if at least one family member attends Family Workshop.

Year-round Continuing Care Program: $600 USD.  Refunded in full if camper successfully meets these criteria of the Continuing Care Program:

1. Camper completes 140 out of 180 days of self-monitoring at least 3 food items with fat and calories recorded per day, and

2. Parent or camper obtains a verified height and weight and provides this form back to Wellspring.

Note: Fees are IN ADDITION to camp tuition, but fully refundable if criteria are met. We follow this policy because research has demonstrated the importance of participation in the Family Workshop  and compliance with the Continuing Care Program for continued weight loss after returning home. We happily refund these fees to families who elect to support their child in these ways.
